Kathmandu Valley Water Supply Improvement Project (KVWSIP) Government Funding (GoN)

The Kathmandu Valley Water Supply Improvement Project and its additional financing through ADB, partially covered the distribution network inside ring road. While some area in northern part were left unaddressed. Likewise, the Bulk Distribution Ring-Main is constructed for capacity of 510 MLD while the stretch between Sundarijal and Chabahil has capacity constraint. To eliminate this bottleneck in Bulk Distribution System and serve the remaining portion in Northern part within ringroad, the Government of Nepal decided for sole financing of these components. This project will fund for construction of large diameter pipes of 1800 mm and 1600 mm diameter from Sundarijal to Chabahil Chowk (via. Kolmati - Gokarna - Jagdol park - Bagmati Corridor - Dakshindhoka Bridge - Jorpati Chowk - Bouddha - Pashang Lahmu Chowk) with total length of about 9.7 KM forming part of the Bulk Distribution System. Likewise, same project will fund for construction of Distribution Network of about 760 KM of Primary Pipelines, Secondary Pipelines and Tertiary pipelines with total 40000 Nos. of House Service connections. The Distribution Network Improvement under this project covers following areas inside ringroad: Kalanki, Soltimode, Sitapaila, Tahachal, Swayambhu, Chhauni, Dallu, Banasthali, Machhapokhari, Gongabu, Samakhusi, Mehpi, Nayabazar, Basundhara, Lazimpat, Maharajgunj, Baluwatar, Bishalnagar, Handigoun, Dhumbarahi, and following area outside ringroad: Mandikhatar, Chabahil, Guheshori, Mitra park, pashupati area, Kapan, Jorpati, Bouddha. The total budget under this component is NRs. 13 Crore.
